Con “Warheads On Foreheads” i Megadeth festeggiano i 35 anni di carriera

Il 22 marzo 2019 i Megadeth festeggiano i loro 35 anni di carriera con l’uscita di “Warheads On Foreheads”, una retrospettiva costituita da 35 tracce che attraversa le loro avventure in studio: dal primo album “Killing Is My Business...” (1985) a “Dystopia” (2016), l’album che si è aggiudicato un Grammy Award.

“Warheads On Foreheads”, sarà disponibile nei formati triplo CD, quattro LP e digitale, mentre una edizione limitata (quattro LP color argento), sarà disponibile esclusivamente attraverso il negozio online della band.

“35 anni fa ho scelto il nome Megadeth e a tutt’oggi credo che le song contenute in “Warheads On Foreheads” siano le armi più forti nell’arsenale della band…” – dichiara Dave Mustaine – “… è un termine militare statunitense per il targeting dell’efficienza, ovvero utilizzare l’arma giusta per raggiungere l’obiettivo: trasportato a noi, queste sono le tracce che meglio raggiungono lo scopo…”

A Los Angeles, nel 1984, Dave Mustaine (guitar) mette in piedi i Megadeth con un intento: essere la band più veloce e più dura delle altre allora in circolazione: la combinazione dell’energia punk miscelata a riff metal potenti e intricati...

e testi diretti e impegnati, sortisce l’effetto desiderato. Con David Ellefson (bass) e Gar Samuelson (drum) la band registra il famigerato demo di 3 tracce che rapidamente fa il giro dei circuiti underground di allora e diviene un successo “clandestino”. Poco dopo, la band giunge a un contratto con la Combat Records.
Ebbene, l'antologia in uscita a marzo – “Warheads On Forehead” – inizia da quell’esordio, con i primi brani thrash (“Rattlehead” e “Mechanix”) apparsi sull’album di debutto del 1985: quel “Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good”, che indica i Megadeth come i precursori del cosiddetto thrash metal.
Poco dopo firmano con Capitol Records e nel 1986 pubblicano “Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?”: il resto è storia nota…
